Buskey Cider adds SW Virginia to distribution map
A Scott’s Addition cidery soon will be giving its apples a homecoming of sorts.Buskey Cider has signed a deal to expand its distribution to Southwestern Virginia beginning in April.Buskey will start its westward excursion through distributor Blue Ridge Beverage with accounts in Harrisonburg and Charlottesville, not far from where the cider maker it gets its apples at orchards in Nelson County.

Buskey goes big in Scott’s Addition
An upstart local booze maker is making an investment to double its capacity less than three months after opening in Richmond’s thirstiest neighborhood.Buskey Cider, which opened in April at 2901 W. Leigh St., last week installed three new 1,860-gallon fermenting tanks at its 7,500-square-foot Scott’s Addition cider making facility.“There has been a lot of demand for our cider here in Richmond,” said Buskey founder and CEO William Correll. “Richmond is a thirsty city…we’re just trying to keep up with demand.”

First Look: Buskey Cider
Their intent is to be neighborhood-focused. “We really want to find our footing with what the community wants, and adapt [to what] our consumers want,” says Steinmetz, whose background is in brewing. He moved from Wisconsin, the former head brewer of Water Street Brewery, to become the cidermaker at Buskey after meeting Correll through a LinkedIn conversation. “I am really new to cidermaking, but I know fermentation and that whole thing," he says. "But if consumers are calling for something a little drier or sweeter, we are going to play with that.”
